What Track & Trace is
Track & Trace is a project platform that helps governments and justice institutions plan, integrate and operate electronic monitoring within a lawful and proportionate framework. It supports courts, correctional services, probation and parole authorities with structured implementation planning, technology integration, monitoring-centre development and operational delivery.
The project focuses on the responsible use of GPS and radio-frequency monitoring to improve visibility, accountability and compliance for individuals placed under lawful judicial supervision — across the full range of justice system applications.
Supporting more efficient, effective justice
Justice systems worldwide face pressure on prison infrastructure and a need for supervision that is both accountable and humane. Where lawful and suitable, community-based monitoring can ease avoidable custodial pressure, support victim and public safety, and give supervising authorities a clearer picture of compliance. Our work is shaped by the specific needs of each partner — including the Uganda context.
Lawful, proportionate, auditable
Track & Trace supports the institutions that hold lawful authority; it does not replace or exercise that authority. Every deployment is built on clear legal basis, court authorisation, privacy protection and a defensible audit trail — the foundations set out in our governance & safeguards.
