Uganda Context
Applying lawful electronic monitoring to support justice-sector efficiency and reduce avoidable custodial pressure in Uganda.
Supporting a modern, efficient justice system
Like many justice systems, Uganda faces pressure on prison capacity and a need for supervision options that are lawful, proportionate and accountable. Where a court considers it suitable, community-based electronic monitoring can support bail and remand alternatives, probation and parole — helping ease avoidable custodial pressure while maintaining public and victim safety.
Partnership and lawful authority
Track & Trace operates in support of the relevant Ugandan justice institutions and within their lawful authority. Any programme is designed around local legal frameworks, court authorisation and the safeguards set out in governance & safeguards, and delivered through the phased approach described in our implementation model.
